Nubar Reclaim

We are so glad to present you the swatch for Nubar Reclaim! An awesome combination of holographic effects with Green! When we first saw this bottle of polish being sold on TheSideWalks, the first reaction was 'MUST DEFINITELY GET IT!' We definitely made the right choice to get this bottle of polish, we have been using Reclaim so often that we have return for our 2nd bottle! Nubar Reclaim was from Nubar's Going Green collection in 2009!

The first three images are taken under artificial lighting, look at the holographic effect inside the bottle! Its not the usual rainbow effects you always see. The holographic effects you see in Reclaim is a mixture ofyellowish  green, if you are lucky sometimes you will get the chance to see a slight tint of light blue appearing on your nails. WOW~
Look all the way to the bottom of  bottle, can you see the slight tint of light blue?:)

Something different from the usual finger nail swatches you see on other nail swatches blog?:) This time round we decided to paint it on our toe nails since our part time job didnt permit us to have nail polishes over our nails:)
Application was easy and smooth, we only apply 1 or 2 coats whenever we use it since the application is so smooth, there is no bald spot and it dries really fast! thus, you dont have to wait too long to put the second coat!

The unique holographic effect from Reclaim simply causes one to wish to just stare at the wonderful and mesmerising effects all day! Sometimes we feel that staring at our nails coated with Reclaim to be a therapeutic thing to do that we can stare at it for almost a whole 5 minutes!

The following two images are take under direct sunlight, the first image isnt as clear as the second image! But the photos have definitely captured the essence of Reclaim under natural light! Can you see the greenish linear holo like we do?:)

We would not deny the fact that it was this bottle of Nubar Reclaim that made us search for more wonderful holographic polishes to apply on our nails!

Understand your OPI nail lacquers better

As we were hunting for discontinued OPI nail lacquers collection, there were some of them belonging to collections that were dated back before 2006 where OPI nail lacquers were using a different type of brush that is similar to the current size of Chinaglaze nail lacquers' brush. When we opened OPI's Standing Room Only and Paris Couture For Sure's bottle, there was a smell coming out from it. The smell was different from the current OPI's polishes. Thus, the both of us decided to do some background research about OPI's previous collection and the following is what we found out! So do enjoy reading!

Interesting Facts about OPI
Toluene has been a part of OPI nail lacquers that were produced in the USA until the late 2007. While in Europe, the OPI nail lacquers has been officially Big 3 Free** Currently OPI's nail polishes do not contain Toluene, Formaldehyde and DBP. However, there are certain OPI's nail treatments that still contain Formaldehyde, which would be stated on the packaging for consumers to check on.
**B3F- free from Dibutyl Phthalate(commonly known us DBP) Formaldehyde and Toluene
Click here to know more how these toxins can harm your healthy nails

For a better understanding on their labels, bottle design, etc, visit Ainnir to know more about this product!
After reading what Ainnir has posted about the legacy of OPI products, it has enhanced our knowledge about OPI and the changes they have made in their changes for nail polishes! From Ainir, you will be able to learn how had OPI changed the packaging of the product, what does the color of their label stand for, how has it evolved to the currently label and packaging.

After reading up on those blog posting on which line of nail polish lacquers contain what type of ingredients, it makes us more aware to be careful with the nail polish lacquers we used, and think twice before using them. However, we do have to admit that sometime we do get carried away by our craziness over polishes and use them at times. We have also found a site that has a list of nail polish brand that shares with you what is contained inside each of the bottle, do take note that this post is dated back to 2009, thus there may be some changes made.

ChinaGlaze Skyscraper and C C Courage

First was GlitterGal, then OPI
now its ChinaGlaze!

Chinaglaze: Skyscraper, C-C-Courage
Chinaglaze Skyscraper is from their latest Metro Collection, while  C-C-Courage is from their Wizard of Oh Ah Collection. Looking from the bottle, Skyscraper has little bits of glitter mixed in their navy blue lacquer. C-C-Courage is a shade that has a combination of blue and purple! Something that the both of us like, best of all C-C-Courage is a shimmery blueish purple lacquer! The glitters in C-C-Courage seems to be in a form of tinier particles but less dense that Skyscraper's. The glitters and shimmer in Skyscraper is also more obvious than C-C-Courage.

 Chinaglaze: Skyscraper, C-C-Courage
Taking a closer look at the polishes from the bottles only make you even more eager to try them out on your nails! For the both of us, we rarely purchase Chinaglaze lacquer as we dont quite enjoy using their brush! We find the application to be quite a challenging task bald spots, uneven surface , etc, but things do get worst with glitters. But it seems like we need more practices to make sure that the application will be a smooth and flawless on:) Do wish us luck on using Chinaglaze's brush for a better application!

First up, we would introduce to you Sky Scraper! The first three images are taken under artificial lighting, even though the application was a tough and horrible one. The shimmery effect under the light just make us felt that the tough process was worthwhile:) We ended the application with OPI's Rapid Dry, making it end with a happy ending. Its a nice to shade to apply over the weekends while you are on a break, letting loose and feeling happy:)

The two images below are taken under natural lighting
Was unable to take a picture that was able to show the real power of this shade!
But we find them quite mesmerising under natural lighting, but the ones that truly cant take our eyes off our nails is the holographic polishes!

Next polish coming up is Chinaglaze's C-C-Courage. Seems like in the following swatches C-C-Courage looks more like a smoky purple shade than the ones we upfront see in person! This time round the application for C-C-Courage was easier and less tedious compare to Skyscraper! Applied 3 layer of C-C-Courage, the surface was a little rough when it dried up, but by applying OPI Rapid Dry the problem of rough surface was solved immediately!
The first three images you see are taken under artificial lighting, at different angles you can see the different shades of this lacquer. As fans of purple, this shade got us to buy the bottle immediately without thinking twice! We find this color quite mysterious, as it will only reveal the different facets of it under different circumstances, giving you a number of pleasant surprises:)

The two images below are taken under natural lighting. Can you see the tiny bits of glitters and shimmer hiding shyly behind the purple shades.
Hello! C-C-Courage is enjoying its moment under the SUN!

Where did we get them?
We got them from D.Y.O.N International at a really amazing price at $8/bottle last Friday at Scape! Almost every single weekend, we would drop by his little booth at Scape to check out whats new in store for us!
You can find them at Scape every week from Friday to Sunday at 1pm to 9pm or drop by their Office at 10 Ubi Crescent, click here for the exact location! Dont be surprised to know that its a man behind this store, as Fredrick is the one who brought as this awesome polishes at such wonderful prices to us! They have the latest collection for OPI, Chinaglaze, Nail Treatments & Accessories at a really affordable price! Be happy to see that their Nail Treatments are half the prices you see at nail salons! Please do not worry about the authenticity of the product, you can always clear you doubts with Fredrick, he would be more than a happy to answer your questions:)

Nubar Jeans Collection

LOOK!
Our favourite animal cruelty free nail polish brand will be launching a new collection soon!
Bringing you their JEANS COLLECTION!As usual, their B3F formula is one of the reasons that made us fell in love with this awesome brand, we seriously cant wait to get our hands on to their new collection and start applying them!

Nubar Jeans Collection
From Left: Faded Jeans, (Light Blue Shimmer)
Boyfriend Jeans, (Medium Blue Creme)
Dark Wash Jeans (Dark Blue Creme)

At first we were not a very big fan of blue lacquer shades, but Nubar's new collection seems to be calling our names! Tempting us to make the first move, by falling in love with their new blue collection. Its so cute that the names of the lacquers are also related to jeans! Wondering how the combination would be like if we were to wear a pair of jeans to match the colors of this polishes! Are you thinking what we are thinking?:) Hmm, judging by the color shown in this image from the color of the bottle, Faded Jeans seems to be the shimmery version of OPI's What's With the Cattitude from the Shrek Collection. While Boyfriend Jeans seems to be a shade similar to OPI's Dating A Royal which is a light navy blue color. Lastly, as the name has mention DARK Wash Jeans, we guess that the color will be a deep navy blue jeans color which is similar to a jean's color! Do take note that what we have written here, is base on inferences made from this image, and the actual shade itself might be a close approximation to what we have written here:) This collection will be launched on their main site at bynubar.com by the end of next week of so! Currently, we are still unsure of when will the blogshops be bringing in these colors, but we will definitely update you guys when they do!
Stay tuned~!

Nail Mail from TheSideWalks

Ordered these nail polishes from TheSideWalks a few week back during our vacation break, and received them last week! Thanks to Aunt Post(She's the Mail Lady, who always send the items we ordered to our doorstep) she had deliver the polishes right into our hands again! Many thank to you again<3
Previously, we ordered Nubar Prize, Treasure and Absolute from the Prism Collection from TheSideWalks, the colors turned out so nicely that we returned to get more! We have also ordered our 2nd bottle of Nubar Reclaim, as we really loved that color so much that the both of us use that color the most compare to the other colors! As the amount decreases in the bottle, it calls for a top up of another bottle!

From Left: Nubar Brilliant, Gem, Spark, Reclaim, Color Club Love' Em Leave'em
(All of the images are taken under artificial lighting)

Look at the holographic effects within each bottle, especially the Nubar Polishes! Its calling our names to hurry apply them on our nails! Color Club Love' Em Leave'em  holographic effects cant be compared with the Nubar's polishes, as the effects is quite faint and it cant be seen in this image! Will definitely post up the swatches from this nail mail soon, when we have the time to!:) We are also expecting more polishes from  TheSideWalks next month:)

In the mean time for those who are interested in getting these really cool holographic polishes, feel free to visit  TheSideWalks and take a look at their cool collection of instocks:) Even though Nubar's  Brilliant, Gem, Spark,Color Club Love' Em Leave'em  cant be found on their site, you can just drop them an email for a special request! We can guarantee that the girl behind this wonderful blog will be very pleased to help you bring them in:)

OPI Standing Room Only & Paris Couture for Sure

These 2 holographic polishes are so far our two trophies among our nail polish collections so far!
To the both of us it feels like we have found two needles in a huge pile of haystack!
Before introducing more about the polishes swatches, here are some info on which collections they belong:)We have been drooling over these two polishes ever since we stumbled on to a blog swatch-ing about them! Now that we have finally got our hands on to these babes, of course we definitely cannot wait to share the joy with the others nail polish fanatics! However, please do not take it as we are trying to brag or show off to those who does not have, we just wanted to share:)

Starting from the Left:
OPI Paris Couture for Sure (Top Coat) belongs to 2005 Shopping Around the World Collection.OPI Standing Room Only (Silver) belongs to the 2003 Holiday on Broadway Collection.
Both of them words well as a top coat, if you want any holographic finishes on your nails:)

All of the images are taken under artificial lighting, looking at both the photos above and below,
you would realised that they are awesome in their own holographic ways!

Take a closer look at the holo effects contain within each bottle.
OPI PCFS contains tiny little bits of a holo glitters,
while OPI SRO has a smooth finish like any linear holo polishes:)

Firstly, we would like to apologise for the untidiness for the following nail polish swatches, as they were done in a rush. Kindly please forgive us on that point! Thanks

The Base of this Polish is Dating a Royal
From left: 1 coat of PCFS(top coat), SRO
As you can see, PCFS's holo glitter is tiny bits of glitter, scattered over the polishes. While SRO's is a linear holo, this combination seems to be a dupe of OPI DS Glamour.
The Base of this Polish is Dating a Royal
From left: SRO, 1 coat of PCFS(top coat)

 Base Color: OPI Black Onyx
From left: 1 coat of PCFS(top coat), SRO
hmm, PCFS appears to be the same over every shades, not failing to coat some glamour over them. But for SRO, it definitely has done its job well by giving OPI Black Onyx a new brand new spotlight!

From Left: 1 coat of PCFS(top coat), SRO
Closer look!

OPI SRO over OPI Black Onyx over Glitter Gal 3D Holographic
Are you able to see which one has a better holo effect?
Which one will you pick?:)

The above is the code for these two polishes, if you ever want to try hunting for these discontinued polishes!
If you are wondering why does the label look different from the current green/brown ones, its because OPI would occasionally change their label as time passes. Honestly, this is our first time getting our hands on to these two OPI discontinued colors!

After all the swatches, review and comparisons, which one would you prefer?
OPI's SRO or PCFS?

Things to take note!
Brushes
The brushes might be different from the current OPI pro wide brushes as OPI only started changing to ProWide brushes from 2006 on wards, while SRO and PCFS belongs to the collection a few years before the change.

Why is there a different smell?
When you just opened a new bottle, there would be a stronger stench compare to the recent OPI collections as collections that are produced before 2006 contains dibutyl phthalate.

Glitter Gals 3D Holographic Collection

What is this about?
Glitter Gal is an Australian based cosmetics brand, their nail polishes are 3 FREE! They are free from toluene, formaldehyde and DBP!They come in smaller bottles of 9ml unlike the usual OPI 15ml bottles you get. You can get yourself a bottle of GG at $19.90/bottle at MeiMei'sSignatures!
Why is the cost so high?
Glitter Gal uses top quality and expensive ingredients to bring you the holographic effects in the polishes within each bottle, which explains the price of each little bottle! Personally, we felt that the price is still consider quite reasonable for any HOLO FAN like us!

Small bottle= Small brush?
Do not worry about the brush within the petite bottle, as it comes along with a full size brush!Application of the lacquer is as easy as ABC!So say goodbye to all the bald spots! We have not really get the chance to try on each of the colors on our nails yet but, we have already swatch them on our nail charts!

How did GG find their way to Singapore?
Thanks to Kerry from Glitter Gal who has allowed MeiMei to be the stockist for GlitterGal Singapore, allowing nail polish holo fans like Inky and many others, to get our hands on to such pretty holo colors, opening the door to more beautiful holographic polishes! But Glitter Gal is really a good choice to satisfy your HOLOGRAPHIC DESIRE!

What are the Collection/Colors available at MeiMei'sSignatures?
Currently, she has the GG 3D Holographic Collection and GG Holographic Sparkle.

Look at the holo effects within each bottle under artificial lighting(without any flash),
most of them 'shine' really nicely in the cute little bottle except for the black one.

In this image, GG Black(last bottle from the right) has a better effect that the first image.

From Left to Right: Fuschia, Cupid, Ballerina, Frappe, Dark Purple
In this image, Ballerina and Frappe has a very similar shade, however, if you take a closer look Ballerina is slightly lighter than Frappe.
While Cupid's holo effects is kind of a spoiler in this chart, as the holo effects in this color isnt as 'holo' as compare to the rest of the colors.
However, for those who really love GG Cupid, you can always add an additional coat of GG Silver to create a better holographic effect!
TADAA, problem solved!

From Left to Right: Blue, Black, Silver
The Blue and Silver holo are so outstanding under artificial lighting, its makes one wonder what would they be light under the sunlight! The holo effects in both colors share a similar or close rainbow holo effect, as you can see it starts with a light blue color from the inner ring, then to the outer ring which ends with yellow with faint sighting of red.
If one has to make a decision of which color is the most upsetting and disappointing one,
it would nonetheless be the GG Black, as the holo effects is quite subtle compare to the Blue and the Silver one accompanying it right at the sides.

From Left to Right: Copper, Enchanted, Fuchsia, Cupid, Ballerina
Needless to mention, its quite obvious which are the colors have better holo effects than the others? They gotta be Copper, Fuchsia and Ballerina!
Honestly, like its name Enchanted, the holographic effects seen in this shade is quite different from the rest of the colors in this image. The holo 'glitters' are quite scattered ,'conservative' & low profile compared to the rest of where the linear holo are quite defined and loud!

Take a closer look at all the three color charts, you would notice that each of the GG polish has a different rainbow effect hidden within these polishes!
For example, GG Dark Purple's holo effects is darker, where you can see more of a violet holo effect than the rainbow effects you see in Copper, Fushia and other lighter shades.

Dont the sight of these images make you have the urge to get your nails painted with this awesome holo polishes? Want to know where you can get your hands in Singapore with FREE normal MAILING? Visit MeiMei'sSignatures NOW!

We will be purchasing more colors from MeiMei'sSignatures soon, so do stay tune for our site for more swatches and reviews!
